Maybe you should get your helicopter license, and do 4000+ hours of flying in the mountains before you start making a comment on where is, or isn't a good spot to land a helicopter. If a pilot can't land on a spot with that much room, he should be allowed out without his instructor still onboard.

My comment wasn't in regards to the size of the spot, but the location.

The ice was probably safer in another spot. You should never try to enter ice where it touches with rock. There was a hollow space between the ice and water so no more ice could form.

Don't know why you have not returned that GoPro yet. First one I ever got a few years ago had that same audio problem.
