Otherwise the T Rex wouldn"t get fed, unless T Rex were scavengers and the septic bite created a collective advantage for other T Rex who may eat the prey later, or perhaps the infection would kill non-T Rex predators if they ate the infected prey, thus reducing the competition.

 There"s plenty of proof actually.T-rex tooth scrapes have been found on Triceratops bones that would normally be deep inside the body. This means that the only plausible way the rex could have been able to leave marks like that is if it had dismembered the carcass to feed on it.Then there"s fossilized dung, of approximately the right size to have come from an animal the size of Tyrannosaurus. And wouldn"t you know, it"s full of mashed up bits of semi-digested broken bone and cartilage.Not to mention all the Triceratops and Edmontosaurus skeletons with healed bite wounds matching rex teeth.
